4-H Monthly Challenge - May 2026
July is for HANDS
BRING YOUR STEM CHALLENGES AND ALL YOUR OTHER PROJECTS FOR JUDGING DAY ON JULY 18 at the 4-H Park 300 Finchville Turnpike, Otisville
Participating in fair judging is an important part of the 4-H experience because it helps youth build confidence, develop communication skills, and reflect on their learning. During the judging process, members have the opportunity to explain their project, describe what they learned, discuss challenges they overcame, and share what they would do differently next time. This conversation encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and public speaking in a supportive environment.
Fair judging also reinforces that success is about more than earning a ribbon. Youth receive constructive feedback from knowledgeable judges that helps them improve their skills and set goals for future projects. They learn the value of preparation, perseverance, and accepting both praise and suggestions for improvement with a positive attitude.
Most importantly, fair judging celebrates the growth that takes place throughout the year. It recognizes the effort, learning, and personal development behind each project while helping young people build life skills that will benefit them in school, careers, and their communities. The experience reflects the 4-H pledge by encouraging members to use their head, heart, hands, and health to become confident, capable, and engaged leaders.
