Family Consumer Sciences
Family and Consumer Sciences offers a variety of programs that support families and professionals in creating and maintaining nurturing environments to raise children and help build individual and family resilience. Our programs provide research-based non-biased information, education and practical skills building to individuals, families and professionals. The programming is responsive to community needs covering a spectrum of topics that help citizens of Orange County thrive and strengthens the capacity of service providers. Programs focus on parenting, including kinship and non-traditional families, child development, building community resilience, nutrition, wellness, senior well-being and financial management.
Our staff members actively network with community agencies, organizations and groups, including schools, libraries, child care centers, businesses and government departments to bring the resources of the land-grant university system to Orange County.
