Youth Summer Art Contest 2024

What does health and wellness mean to you this summer?

We are committed to uplifting the health and wellness of all the residents of Orange County. Here at Cornell Cooperative Extension, we provide a diverse array of opportunities to uplift and empower our community, and we believe that many things contribute to the experience of a positive wellbeing. 

This summer, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Orange County invites YOU to explore your creativity and knowledge regarding health and wellness with our first ever Youth Summer Art Contest.

Prompt: What does health and wellness mean to you this summer?

From your perspective, show us what health and wellness means to you, and how you chose to pursue it for yourself this summer. We cannot wait to see your creations!

Eligibility:

Any Orange County youth in grades 6-12 with parent/guardian consent

There will be two submission categories:

  • Group 1: Incoming 6-8th grade students
  • Group 2: Incoming 9-12th grade students 


Guidelines:

All forms of visual art will be accepted, including but not limited to paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed-media, photography, and so forth. The artwork must be original, meaning it was not created by someone other than the youth artist.


Submissions:

Artwork can be submitted in the following ways:

  • Mail to: 18 Seward Ave, Suite 300, Middletown, NY, 10940
  • Drop off: 18 Seward Ave, Suite 300, Middletown, NY, 10940
  • Pick up: *bulk pick-ups with youth organizations in Orange County can be coordinated with reasonable 2-week notice

All submissions can be coordinated with Nutrition Educator, Olivia O’Connor (oco8@cornell.edu)


SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 

Friday, August 23rd by noon

  • Winners will be announced Friday, September 6th via email and social media
    • 1st place winner of each category will receive a health and wellness related prize
    • Top three winners of both age categories will receive Certificate of Recognition
  • Winners will be determined by identified CCE Orange staff based on creativity, originality, personal voice, skill, and depth
  • The winning artwork will be on display at CCE Orange’s location in the Family and Consumer Sciences Department and promoted on our social media channels
