About the Cornell Climate Stewards Program

Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) Orange County, in conjunction with CCE Madison County and CCE Yates County, is happy to announce another installment of the Cornell Climate Stewards training program this spring!

The Cornell Climate Stewards Program trains and empowers residents and community leaders to plan and implement volunteer projects related to climate change education, mitigation, and adaptation to inspire and support local, community-based climate action and engagement.

The program fee is $75.

If you would like to participate in the training and need financial assistance, please contact Erik Schellenberg, Climate Smart Communities & Climate Stewards Coordinator, CCEOC @ jk642@cornell.edu or 845-344-1234 ext. 260.

Training Schedule

The program will begin with an in-person meeting at the CCE Orange County office on Thursday, April 3, 2025. The rest of the trainings will take place weekly, every Thursday via Zoom from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

Each training will cover a specific climate change topic, with additional outside readings, videos, and group activities designed to develop skills needed to lead and educate their communities in climate science, adaption, and mitigation.

The final day of training will be in-person on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at the CCE Orange County Office.

Throughout the course, trainees will design an individual or group community action project to present and discuss during the final, in-person session.
