NYS 4-H is delighted to invite you to participate in the first State Family STEM Challenge program! This program will bring together youth and families from across New York to join live virtual events and share their family's Mars exploration. We'll have activities and coaching led by 4-H professionals, teen leaders, and campus partners like the Spacecraft Planetary Imaging Facility.

As part of the fun one of Orange County's 4-H youth, Ashok Sathiyamoorthy will be leading Mars Mission Downlink: a live virtual tour of Mars on Friday, February 12th!

Description: Mars Mission Downlink: a live virtual tour of Mars

Your spacecraft lands or your rover drives to a new location . . . downlink time comes and WOW you’ve got new images of a place never before seen by human eyes! Experience the excitement of a Mars mission downlink with these engaging games using REAL images and virtual reality. Plus a live Q&A session for all your questions about Mars! You can share questions ahead of time on our Facebook event and Slack channel, too.

This Zoom session will supplement the Landing Zone activity. You will practice skills used by scientists working on Mars rover missions when they must quickly evaluate new images in order to plan for the rover’s activities the next sol (Martian day). We’ll tour the sites on Mars explored by landers and rovers through panoramas and 360 VR.

Please bring a six-sided die to this event, and, if you have one available, a phone/tablet separate from the device you are using for the Zoom session.
