On Saturday, February 27, 2018, an Orange County 4H club from the after-school program held at the Salvation Army in Newburgh, the 4H Walking Water Robots, competed in the First Lego League competition at Sanfordville Elementary School in Warwick. This was the club’s first year attending the tournament and the only team 4H sent this year. This year’s theme for the event was water conservation.

"They did very well for a very young and inexperienced team. The club had a great time and are looking forward to next year's competition," said coach Katherine Leo, who was very proud of their effort. Leo shared that she was impressed by how much the club members were able to accomplish in a short period of time.

Each year the Hudson Valley First Lego League host tournaments throughout Orange County where teams come to compete in the Lego League robotics challenge. Each team is required to present a research project, a robot design presentation, club presentation and have three opportunities to run the robot on the robot table.
