2021 Orange County Agriculture & Family Festival

Join Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County for our 2021 Orange County Agriculture & Family Festival!

This year, the Ag & Family Festival will be a special one-day event held on Sunday, July 11th from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the Education Center & 4-H Park located at 300 Finchville Turnpike in Otisville, NY.

Come visit farm animals, join in activities, view 4-H projects and displays, learn about CCE Orange County, enjoy milkshakes and more!

We will also have a special passport for children to get stamped as they go through the below activities. Once completed they will be able to pick up a prize as you exit!

Activities include:

Farm Friends - A variety of farm animals will be in our Dairy Barn for visiting. Learn about them as well as stick around to watch a cow being milked. A Goat Play area will also be set up.
4-H Horse Show - Our 4-H Horse show will be going on throughout the day!
4-H Static Exhibits - View some of the projects our Orange County 4-Hers have worked on this year.
FFA Static Exhibits & Competitions - We are proud to partner with our local FFA for another year! View some of their projects their youth have worked on this year.
Rube Goldberg Projects - View some of our Orange County 4-Hers' 2021 entries.
Family Communication - All families are different - including their communications style! Learn some tips to make the most out of your time spent together and how you can start meaningful conversations at more than just the dinner table.
ReThink Your Drink - Do you REALLY know how much sugar is in your favorite drinks? Learn how to be a sugar detective with SNAP-Ed NY! We can show you a quick trick to decipher the food label and upgrade your beverage choices.
How Much FAT is in THAT?!: Drive-thru’s are a part of life! Check out how much fat is in some of the most common fast food options AND how to kick your nutrition up a notch even when you are on the go or dining out.
Ask a Master Gardener - Our Master Gardener Volunteers are ready to answer your questions and share their knowledge and tips! You can also find out more about joining the program!
All about Bugs - Children will be given their own bug in goo to identify, learn about and take home!
Starts with a Seed - Children will be given some seeds in a bag all ready to sprout and learn all about plants and where they come from.
Fish Advisory / Fish Health - Learn important information from our Educators regarding fishing, fish, health, local water bodies, and how fishing is related to overall ecosystem health.
Farm Bureau - The Farm Bureau will have a table as well as a game for children.

Jeremy's Shake Shack will be open and run by our own 4-H Teen Leaders! Chocolate and vanilla milkshakes as well as dairy-free strawberry banana fruit smoothies will be available for purchase. Cost is $5 each and all proceeds will benefit the Education Center & 4-H Park and scholarships for Orange County 4-H Youth.

There will be pick-up only Chicken Barbecue Dinners made by the Minisink Kiwanis Club. You MUST purchase your meal(s) in advance no later than Thursday, July 1st to pick-up on Sunday, July 11th between 12:00 and 2:00 P.M. Each meal will be $12 and include a Kiwanis barbecued chicken leg quarter, baked potato, roll, coleslaw, beverage, and brownie.
