Making Handcrafted Soaps

  • Saturday, September 16, 2017, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Go home with 8 bars of soap! (two each of four different types)

We’ll be making the following soaps:

  • Apricot Soap
  • Sunny Day Sunflower Soap
  • Coffee Grounds Soap
  • Orange Tea Tree Soap

The type of soap Grandma made is called "Cold Process"* It is made by combining fatty acids and sodium hydroxide (lye) together. Fatty acids can be almost any oil - from beef tallow to olive oil to hemp oil. The combinations for making your own personal recipe are endless. Cold process soap making is a combination of an art and science.

  • Hear the history of soap making.
  • Natural soap ingredients and their benefits.
  • Why use natural soap over commercial, store-bought.
  • Make your own soap!
  • Each participant will receive a packet of information that has recipes, handouts, lye cautions, etc.

Cost: $45/person - limited to only 16 people. Deadline for registration: Sept. 2, 2017. Sorry, no refunds, if you can’t attend please send someone in your place.
