Weekly Wellness Tip: Making Happy, Healthy Hearts

February is Heart Health Month and Tuesday, February 14, is Valentine’s Day, a day to celebrate and share your love. 

Here's a special 'recipe' to make it happy & heart healthy:

Ingredients:

  • Time spent together creating a healthy meal
  • Chicken Caprese (click to download recipe)
  • Fruits Hearts
  • Angel Delights (click to download recipe)
  • Laughter, hugs, smiles and kisses

Instead of candy and flowers that eventually die, how about making a heart healthy dinner of Chicken Caprese with mixed fruit cut in heart shapes. Cookie cutters are great kitchen tools and kids love to help; set a cutting board on your countertop, place fruit on cutting board and help your child cut fruit into heart shapes.

Later, after dinner when your sweet tooth is craving something extra special, have that batch of Angel Delights you whipped up earlier ready to plate up. Made with dates, coconut, and toasted rice cereal, just 2 or 3 treats will add a perfect ending to your special meal.
