DESCRIPTION:CCE Orange County & the Hudson Valley Farm Hub are proud to present a talk on Syntropic Agroforestry, delivered by the system's creator, Ernst Götsch.Syntropic Agroforestry is an agricultural system developed by Ernst Götsch that exceeds conventional production per acre, using no inputs while simultaneously accumulating more biomass and building more soil than natural forests. Ernst's systems build fertility by using directed natural species succession and stratification to optimize photosynthesis and create the eco-physiological optimal conditions for the crop species. He has successfully applied this system in temperate ecosystems across the Mediterranean, western Europe, and even northern European countries, but his best-known systems are located in the tropics and subtropics. Please join us in learning about how Ernst developed his system and how we might be able to apply it to our regional context. There will be time for a Q&A following his talk. There will be an additional farm tour of All One One All Farm with Ernst Götsch after the talk.
