The U.S. Dept. of Labor declares certain farm occupations too "hazardous" for youth below the age of 16. Tractor driving is included on this list, and these youth are prohibited from working on any farm but their home farm. Certain exemptions are permitted. An exemption is permitted for 14- and 15-year-olds if they have successfully completed a basic Tractor Safety Certification Program.
The Orange County 4-H Tractor Program is open to any Orange County youth who is at least 14 years old; who needs to receive certification to work on a farm this summer; and/or who is looking for a fun, educational experience.
To be certified, participants MUST attend ALL sessions, and take and pass the test.
Tractor Driving Practice: Saturday, April 27, 9 am at Chambers Tractor, Montgomery
Tractor Safety Test: Saturday, May 4, 9 am at Chambers Tractor, Montgomery
Registration Fee:
$35 for registered 4-H members* / $55 for non-members
