PR: Master Food Preservation 3-Day Training (May 2019)

MFP

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. — Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County is hosting a three-day Master Food Preserver Certification training on May 14-16 from 8:30am-4:30pm at Shady Acres Organic Farm in Middletown, NY. Participants need no prior knowledge of food preservation to attend, but must be available to attend the entire training, be willing to share knowledge with others, and be comfortable participating in a variety of hands-on activities.

During this intensive training, participants will learn about safe and efficient methods for all aspects of food preservation in the home including economic and nutritional considerations, food safety, canning, freezing, drying, pickling, fermentation, and preparing jams and jellies.

This is a valuable asset to owners and employees of farm stands and Community Supported Agriculture as well as members of civic organizations, as you can pass your knowledge along with confidence.

The Master Food Preserver Training is limited to 21 participants and includes lunch each day. The cost is $395 per person. Interested individuals must register with payment no later than May 6, 2019. Call 845-344-1234, email my468@cornell.edu or visit our website at cceorangecounty.org for more information. No refunds; if you cannot attend please send someone in your place.
