Woods Forum

  • Thursday, November 8, 2018, 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM

At some point in every landowner’s life, decisions about what to do with their woods arise. Many landowners don’t sell timber or plan the future of their land often, which can make knowing where to turn for advice difficult. It can be helpful for landowners to learn about their options in advance, meet local professionals in person, and hear about other landowners’ experiences.

The Woods Forum will discuss the decisions surrounding woodland ownership and the importance of these woodlands to families and communities through:

  • A short presentation by Cornell Cooperative Extension Natural Resource Educators
  • A round table discussion forum where landowners can ask their questions and get answers from other landowners and professionals.
  • A chance to meet with local conservation organizations including the Orange County Land Trust, NY Forest Owners Association, Lower Hudson PRISM, consultant foresters and loggers; NYS DEC forester and wildlife biologist…
  • Topics will include: Emerald Ash Borer treatment or removal and harvesting options,

Invasive species:Spotted lanternfly/ Tree of Heaven interaction; What is new to you in your woods?

By bringing together landowners and conservation professionals, we aim to create a local network of contacts that can give landowners the support and information they need when they face a decision about their land.

Join us at the Woods Forum for homemade pie, conversation, and resources to take home.
