Create Your Own Hypertufa Planter

  • Tuesday, May 30, 2017, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

at Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County
18 Seward Ave., Middletown, NY 10940-1919

Old stone containers make wonderful planters, but they are heavy (and difficult to find)!

Hypertufa is a lighter weight man-made, stone-like material created from natural materials that can be fashioned into all sorts of containers and objects. In this class, you will make a round hypertufa planter to take home with you. You will also be given instructions on how to prepare the correct soil mixture for this special type of planter, and we will show you what kind of plants will thrive in your hypertufa planter once it is "cured."

Please wear old work clothes for mixing cement. You must be able to work standing up. We'll supply the hypertufa trough "ingredients" and "mold."

Cost: $30/person; $27 for Gardening in Orange County (GOC) subscribers. Space is limited to 12 participants, so please register early to avoid disappointment. Registration deadline is May 19, 2017.
